LOST INDUSTRY - ORIGINAL
LOST INDUSTRY
An Original Artwork From Andrew S. Gray
A Note From Andrew:
When visiting the tranquil Holy Island of Lindisfarne in recent times, you’d be forgiven to think it had always been this way, bar those pesky Viking raiders in 793 AD, however during the Victorian period there was a busy period of Lime production on the Island. Remnants of this industry survive to this day. One of these are the ‘Castle Point Lime Kilns’ which lie behind the recognisable outline of Lindisfarne Castle.
The lime kilns and castle are depicted in this piece on the shoreline of shimmering evening light.
Made using intentional camera movement techniques with a digital camera, allowing the image’s atmosphere to form by mixing multiple frames together.
